Significant Educators was founded by Eric Sigman, first informally in 2004 and later formally established in 2020. What began as one-on-one support for students grew into something more during the COVID pandemic, when Eric saw firsthand how many students needed consistent, reliable academic guidance beyond what schools could provide.With more than 25 years of experience in education, Eric began his career as a math teacher on Long Island, later teaching in highly regarded school districts in Westchester County and serving as an administrator in Connecticut.Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his impact on students and learning, including honors such as Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist and Spotlight Teacher in Stamford, Connecticut.Eric has earned tenure in multiple districts, collaborated with the College Board, worked alongside contributors to the Common Core, and has been featured on NPR.At the core of his work is a belief that students thrive when they feel supported, understood, and confident in their ability to learn.That belief continues to guide everything we do at Significant Educators.

Significant Educators is a relationship-first tutoring company. We focus on confidence, independence, deep understanding and results. Our tutors are certified educators or highly vetted subject specialists who know how to teach, not just explain answers. We support the whole student academically, emotionally, and strategically.
▸ Who do you work with?
We support upper elementary students, middle and high school students, and college students and young adults. Our students range from high achievers who want to level up to learners who feel stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed by school.
▸ What subjects do you offer?
We specialize in most subjects, executive function and academic coaching, test prep (SAT, ACT, Regents, and college exams), and writing and study skills support. If you are unsure whether we support a specific subject, just ask. We will be honest and guide you appropriately. Don't be afraid to ask for a subject that you consider off the beaten path! We can most likely help.
▸ Do you offer test prep or only tutoring?
Both. We offer targeted test prep, content review, strategy coaching, and short-term refreshers. We also offer ongoing tutoring for students who need consistent academic support.
▸ What are Significant Sprints?
Significant Sprints are flexible 15-minute focused sessions designed to help students get started, push through mental blocks, review key concepts, and build momentum without burnout. These sessions can be combined for if needed. They are ideal for busy students, anxious learners, or families looking for flexible support.
▸ Are sessions online or in person?
We primarily offer online sessions. Online sessions are highly effective and preferred by many families for flexibility. In-person sessions are extremely limited and available in select locations.
▸ How are tutors selected?
All tutors are carefully screened for subject expertise, teaching ability, emotional intelligence, and communication skills. We do not outsource or mass-hire. Quality and fit matter.
▸ How do you match a student with a tutor?
We consider academic needs, learning style, personality fit, goals, and timeline. If something is not working, we adjust. The relationship matters.
▸ How quickly can we start?
In many cases, we can begin within a few days. Urgent needs such as upcoming tests or missed instruction are prioritized when possible.
